Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) is a voluntary, industry-led Product Stewardship Organisation. Funded by eight of Australia’s leading tyre importers including, Bridgestone, Continental, Goodyear, Kumho, Michelin, Pirelli, Toyo and Yokohama. Volkswagen has recently joined the scheme as the first auto-brand in Australia to take responsible steps towards the management of waste tyres.
TSA is focused on the environmentally sound management of end-of-life tyres and developing new markets from tyre derived products. With over 1700 participants across Australia operating within an eco-system that ensures waste tyres are managed, disposed and recycled in an appropriate manner.
Since its 2013 inception, TSA has committed $5M towards projects, research and infrastructure that are focused on using tyre derived products in new applications such as road base, athletics and equine tracks, civil engineering and more.
TSA joins IRSG to complement its foreign end market verification program, a process that will see overseas destination require sustainable verification prior to accepting waste tyres from Australia. TSA is committed to working towards a reverse supply chain that creates value, not harm.
